Acclaimed Jazz Drummer To Visit SUNY Oswego
Oswego State will welcome a globally accomplished jazz drummer, Matt Wilson, to preform with Matt Wilson Quartet in Ke-Nekt concert on Nov. 29. Ke-Nekt is a part of a Chamber Music Series. The Matt Wilson Quartet is part of the seven-concert series that is being held to commemorate the concert series seventh season.
Barclay’s Office to Assist in Annual Shoe Drive Through Dec. 3
Assemblyman Will Barclay announced that his office will once again assist in the collection of shoes and boots from now through Dec. 3. Millard “Mudd” Murphy, former mayor of Central Square and executive director of the Oswego County Conferences of Mayors, started the annual drive, “Tithe My Shoes” in 2014 and has organized the drive every year since then.
Oswego Health Announces Thanksgiving Weekend Urgent Care Hours
Oswego Health’s Fulton and Central Square medical centers will offer convenient hours on Thanksgiving Day, November 23. Thanksgiving Day ~ Both Urgent Care Centers will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. However, all Oswego Health outpatient services, which include lab, medical imaging and physical therapy, will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.
Riley Home and School Community Fair Set Saturday
The Charles E. Riley Home and School Community Fair is scheduled for Saturday November 18, at the school from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Port City Copy Center contributed to the promotion of the event by producing flyers.
Share Your Thanksgiving Blessings
Anyone that would like to share their Thanksgiving blessings with others is invited to contribute pies and dinner rolls to the Oswego County Salvation Army for its traditional Thanksgiving dinner, which will be served Nov. 23. Contributions may be dropped off at 73 W. Second St., by Nov. 21 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
United Way Stone Soup Luncheon Welcomes Great Results
The United Way of Greater Oswego County recently welcomed community members to its Stone Soup Luncheon. Hosted by St. Joseph’s Parish in Oswego the annual event serves as a fundraiser for local food pantries and helps to raise awareness of hunger in Oswego County. According to United Way Resource Development Director Ali McGrath the Luncheon was a great success.
Literacy Coalition of Oswego County Receives $31,000 Shineman Grant For ‘Read To Them’ Program
“We are extremely grateful to Karen Goetz, foundation executive director, and to the Shineman Foundation for their support,” said Mike Egan, LCOC president. “This grant will enable LCOC and its partner school districts, Fulton, Mexico and Oswego to launch the ‘Read To Them’ pilot, ‘One District, One Book’ program with elementary students. We are working in concert with each of these districts we are grateful for their support.”
First United Methodist Church To Host Craft Fair
The First United Methodist Church of Fulton will host its annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair on November 25 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. as part of “Small Business Saturday” in America. The fair will feature local craftspeople, artists, writers, painters, and vendors from around Central New York.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
