Rotarians Hear Update on CNY Arts Center

On October 7, Reality Check of Onondaga, Cayuga and Oswego counties will offer students ages 13 – 18 the opportunity to become Reality Check Youth Leaders. Reality Check is a youth led movement to expose the tobacco industry’s manipulative marketing practices. The Youth Leadership course is an experienced-based learning opportunity that will give students the skills necessary to become informed leaders of their generation, as well as of their future.
Lohnas will offer a four-part course once more on the Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher), as well as restarting the multi-part Introduction to Computer and Internet Basics classes.
The Oswego County Municipal Historians recently awarded the winners of its 2017 photo contest. Eleven people submitted nearly 50 photos to the contest. Finalists were displayed at the Oswego County Fair in Sandy Creek where the public was invited to vote for their favorite picture in nine separate categories.

First St. S., to 808 W. Broadway, the former Cayuga Community College and Center for Instruction Technology and Innovation site.
The town of Volney is having a contest of how many peanuts in the jar. Simple come to the town hall on County Route 6, Volney Center, to see the display and jar full of peanuts in the shell. Fill out the form with your name, phone number and guess. The closest guess will win the book, “History of Oswego County” 1816 – 2016.
New Haven Elementary welcomed musical theatre performance “Pete the Cat” on September 29, a story of adventure and friendship. Based on the popular books series by Kimberly and James Dean, lead character Pete the Cat gets sent to the Biddle family to learn his manners as a trained house cat.
On October 22 at 2 p.m. Dawn Myers, an Oswego County artist, will teach Introduction to Acrylic Painting as part of the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center’s Nature Inspires series.
For years, Palermo Elementary School has welcomed students and families to participate in building their annual Palermo Family Wall of Fame during the school’s open house. A colorful backdrop filled the art room at the school where students and their families posed for a photo opp.
