The Minetto United Methodist Church kitchen will spring to life in a few days as more than 100 parishioners and friends prepare and serve the annual harvest turkey dinner. The dinner is scheduled for October 21, with serving beginning at 4 p.m. Guests may eat in the dining room, carry out dinners to take home, or pick up dinners in the drive-through line.

Artists of all genres of music interested in appearing at Harborfest 2018 can obtain information and an application by logging onto the Harborfest website (www.oswegoharborfest.com), under the “Applications” tab, or at the Harborfest office, 41 Lake St., Monday – Wednesday between the hours of 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Novelis, will serve as an official sponsor for Oswego County Opportunities’ “Giving Thanks” fundraiser. “Novelis is an integral part of our community and we are pleased to welcome them as one of our Silver Level sponsors,” said OCO Fund Development Coordinator Margaret Barclay.

Physical and sexual child abuse is the most serious health problem that youth face. It is a prevalent problem that affects hundreds of youth and their families in Oswego County. Last year alone, the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County provided services to 497 children and their families. “Child abuse in our communities is a serious problem,” said Child Advocacy Center Executive Director Karrie Damm.

Nearly 180 students, including several from the area, completed their undergraduate studies at SUNY Oswego in summer 2017 and were recognized with bachelor’s degrees.

Theresa Woolson was a recent guest at Oswego Rotary. Woolson formed the Victor Orlando Woolson (VOW) Foundation after the death of her son in 2012 from a fatal reaction to synthetic drugs. The organization was formed in his honor to spread the word about synthetic drugs in an effort to save lives.

Michael Mankiewicz of Fulton was among more than 400 first-year students welcomed to the Baldwin Wallace University campus this fall who claimed $6.1 million in merit scholarships. Mankiewicz, a graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School majoring in acting, earned a $12,000 Deans Scholarship.

Students introduced their parents to teachers and administrators while touring the building. Informational sessions were held in classrooms to review expectations, provide resources and answer any questions that were asked.
