World-renowned musician Ustad (Maestro) Shafaat Khan will bring his unique concert presentation — featuring Indian classical/folk music, Sufi-inspired compositions and a multicultural fusion of jazz, pop and more — to SUNY Oswego’s Sheldon Hall ballroom Thursday, Sept. 7, to kick off the Year of India at the college.
Assemblyman Will Barclay reminds children who are participating in this year’s Assembly Summer Reading Challenge to send in their completed challenge forms. Students who read at least 15 minutes per day for 40 days between July and August should send completed reading challenge forms into Barclay’s office.
Area students explored healthcare careers during Oswego Health’s recent MASH Camp (Medical Academy of Science and Health) held for two days at Oswego Hospital. The students, who are entering the eighth and ninth grades, took part in interactive rotations through numerous hospital departments that included the lab, pharmacy and medical imaging.
Next month, a course that outlines different techniques in creating resumes and cover letters will be offered on September 6 from 2-4 p.m. and on September 16 from 2-4 p.m. to allow patrons two separate times to attend.
On Monday (August 21), State Senator Patty Ritchie presented four brave teenagers who rescued a family on Lake Ontario this summer with the New York State Senate’s Liberty Award. This recognition is the highest honor the New York State Senate can award to citizens for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on behalf of their fellow New Yorkers.
State Senator Patty Ritchie announced today (August 22) that legislation which helps New Yorkers “love their library” by making a donation via their annual tax returns has been signed into law by the Governor.
This year’s 12th Annual Fulton Polish Fest will be held on September 16 at the Fulton Polish Home. The event will be held from noon to 7 p.m. and will feature traditional Polish and American Food (at reasonable prices), Polish beer on tap and a live Polka band!
I just adopted a new cat, Mandy, to keep my other cat, Jocko, company. They are getting along fine together, but there is a problem. The Humane Society told me Mandy was litter trained, but that is apparently not true. She keeps going outside the box. I yell at her when I see her do it but nothing is working and I am at my wit’s end. Can you help?
Members of the women’s golf league at Emerald Crest Golf Club in Palermo recently held their second annual “Pink Night” captain and crew tournament in support of Oswego County Opportunities’ Cancer Services Program. The event raised a total of $1,035 for the OCO Cancer Services Program.
