Just ahead of the Memorial Day Weekend, State Senator Patty Ritchie announced the Senate today (May 24) approved several bills she cosponsors that honor America and those who have served their country. “It is so critically important to honor the memory of our fallen heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice while defending our nation,” said Senator Ritchie.
Oswego Health is among the sponsors of the upcoming free community breastfeeding shower to be June 16 in Health Services Center. Women who are breastfeeding for the first time or those who plan to breast feed are encouraged to attend this event coordinated by the Oswego County Breastfeeding Coalition.
Artist and storyteller Christopher Agostino met with sixth and eighth graders to infuse arts in education with his “StoryFaces” show. Agostino told a variety of stories while simultaneously transforming the faces of student volunteers into the characters.
One student from each classroom was selected by their teacher for the honor, which offered praise and gratitude for the children that never gave up and pushed themselves toward achieving academic or behavioral goals.
This week marks the official start of the Greater Oswego – Fulton Chamber of Commerce Farmers’ Markets in Oswego and Fulton. The markets are presented by Oswego Health and will run 20 weeks through mid-October.
Lanigan Elementary School has facilitated more than just academic and behavioral successes during the 2016-17 school year, as an unbroken bond and a forever friendship recently blossomed between a current and former student.
Community members are invited to Oswego Health’s free Hats and High Tea with Audiologist Kathleen Burch at 4 p.m. May 31 at Springside at Seneca Hill. Burch, a licensed audiologist, will discuss the benefits of hearing aids over coffee, tea and light snacks.
Last year’s event raised more than $20,000 and in the past 17 years has brought in more than $345,000. This money has helped the Friends of Oswego County Hospice defray the costs of non-medical expenses for Oswego County Hospice patients and their families and supported the local hospice, local care provided by Oswego County Hospice.
“Our Facebook page, found under Fulton Music Association, will serve as a great way to announce local events, both those we sponsor and those sponsored by others, as well as a convenient showcase for summer concert schedules, photos from events, and more,” said Steve Chirello, FMA president.
While that heart of Fulton may seem lost to some people over the past few decades, Fulton City School District students have teamed up with the Wisdom Thinkers Network to re-ignite that passion for an even brighter future.
