Each year, the Friday before Mother’s Day is designated as Provider Appreciation Day, which is a day to honor child care providers, teachers, and staff, who play such a critical role in the early care and learning for young children.
Oswego County Opportunities Deputy Executive Director Patrick Waite announced that Dan Kelley has been named Director of OCO Crisis and Development Services.
Kelley joins OCO from Onondaga Case Management Services in Syracuse where he most recently served as director of licensed programs.
Nearly 100 Fulton City School District senior athletes were recognized recently for their contributions to the Red Raider sports program over the years. Keynote speaker Tim Connors, a 2013 GRB graduate and cancer survivor, congratulated the athletes and encouraged them to strive for success amid adversity.

Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum will host an open house on June 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. In recognition of World Refugee Day, June 20, we will honor the spirit and courage of the millions of refugees around the world. The Safe Haven Museum is dedicated to keeping alive the stories of 982 refugees that survived Hitler’s tyranny during World War II.
Talent was on display at an Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary talent show, where students performed in the high school auditorium. More than 40 acts performed, the talent ranging from singing to magic tricks to gymnastics.
Eleventh grade honors students in the Fulton City School District recently partnered with the Wisdom Thinkers Network for a community oral history project. After months of research, writing, videotaping and editing, the oral history effort culminated with a presentation and community discussion in the Fulton Education Center auditorium.
Combined, these students have volunteered 9,409.74 hours in the greater community of Central Square Central. These hours multiplied by the NY State minimum hourly wage of $9 per hour is a savings of $84,687.75 to the non-profit organizations they volunteered with.
The grant, offered through the New York State Retired Teachers Association of Oswego County, will be used towards the purchase of training materials for the First Aid and CPR Unit that all Central Square seventh graders students participate in during health class.
Several Fairgrieve Elementary students were honored during a recent Morning Express program in the school gymnasium because they followed expectations throughout the fourth quarter.
