Bring your family and friends for a fun day about birds and nature as the Onondaga Audubon Society hosts its annual Bird Festival on May 10. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the scenic lakeside Derby Hill Bird Observatory just off NYS Route 104B in the town of Mexico.
The Office of Business and Community Relations-organized event raised both awareness of women’s heart health and $730. Students and employees made donations to guess the capacity of a sweetheart chocolate jar, made contributions to wear jeans for the day and received heart health information.
Oswego Rotary welcomed Oswego High School seniors Alex Kouthoofd and Shannon McIntosh at a recent club meeting. The club hosts seniors from OHS bi-weekly, introducing the students to members and sharing their academic accomplishments and community contributions.
Creativity, science, technology and computer programming were all part of construction of Lego kits at the Fitzhugh Park Elementary School. The students not only built creatures, but also programmed them by using computer technology.
Performing artists in the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District had their moment in the spotlight at the Junior/Senior High School’s Annual Talent Show. The show featured nine acts, roughly 25 performers and two stand-up comedians.
About 3,250 students at RPI were named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2013 semester. The Dean’s List recognizes full-time students who maintain grade-point averages of a minimum of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 and have no grades below C.
In keeping with their tradition of giving back to the community, board chairperson of the BPO Elks Lodge #271 Carol Dillabough, presented, Lois Luber, resource development director with United Way of Oswego County, with a $5,000 donation on behalf of the club’s members in support of United Way’s Annual Campaign.
Emerson J. Dillon Middle School has announced its Gold and Silver Star students for the second quarter of the 2013 – 2014 school year.
