Oswego Police Department Responds Oswego High School For A Report Of An Intoxicated Individual

On April 29, 2026, at approximately 3:14 PM, members of the Oswego Police Department Patrol Division responded to 2 Buccaneer Boulevard, Oswego High School, for a report of an intoxicated individual operating a school bus.

Upon arrival, officers located the bus in question and initiated an investigation. The investigation determined that Bradley Wygant, age 39, of Oswego, had been operating the bus while under the influence. At the time of the incident, 30 students of various ages were on board the bus.

Wygant was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Oswego Police Department, where a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) conducted a series of additional evaluations. Following these evaluations, it was determined that Wygant was under the influence of several non-alcoholic substances while operating the bus. A blood sample was collected from Wygant and is being forwarded for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Wygant was charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law), a Class D Felony
  • 30 counts of Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree, Class A Misdemeanors
  • 14 counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Class A Misdemeanors

The Oswego Police Department worked in conjunction with the Oswego City School District throughout the investigation. Parents of the students involved in this incident were subsequently notified by school district administration. Following his arrest, Wygant was processed and brought to Oswego County Jail for arraignment in CAP court.
