Rotary Rings Bell For Salvation Army

Reed, left, and Salvation Army Captain Kenneth HayesOn Saturday members the two Oswego Rotary clubs, Oswego Sunrise and Oswego Rotary Club, rang the bell for the Oswego Salvation Army. This has been an annual event for the Rotary clubs. Rotarian George A. Reed has collected for the Christmas Kettles since 1977.

Hair Hut Hosting Toy Drive For Catholic Charities

Representatives from Catholic Charities of Oswego County and The Hair Hut Salon and Spa display some of the toys that have collected during the Hair Hut’s toy drive for Catholic Charities. Huhtamaki Supports Catholic Charities

Members of United Steel Workers Local 54 at Huhtamaki in Fulton recently donated dozens of toys to Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Emergency Services program. The toys will be distributed to children in need through Catholic Charities’ Adopt A Family program. From left are: Gail Cooper, and Jamie Drake of Catholic Charities, Director of Catholic Charities’ Community Services, Helen Hoefer and Diane Shelmandine representing United Steel Workers Local 54.Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s Emergency Services received a welcome donation from the United Steel Workers Local 54 employees at Huhtamaki that will help bring joy to many families this holiday season.

Oswego High School Student Sets Out to Raise One Million Pennies for Pantries

Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I—Pulaski) presented Christie Hoefer, a high school senior at Oswego High School, with a New York State Assembly citation for her efforts to organize Pennies for Pantries.  This fundraising effort is helping to bolster donations for the local food pantry. From left are Helen Hoefer, Christie Hoefer and Barclay.When Christie Hoefer found out that 14 pennies can buy a pound of food at the Food Bank, Pennies for Pantries was born—a campaign to collect one million pennies.
