City Seals Agreement To Review Code Compliance At New DPW Site

The city of Fulton is taking its first steps to make necessary renovations at the Department of Public Works’ new home on Edgarton Street. With consent of the Fulton Common Council, Barton & Loguidice will perform a comprehensive review of the site, looking for code deficiencies. Officials say the assessment is required before any upgrades at the facility will be reimbursable.

National Grid Bringing In Extra Crews To Boost Restoration Efforts

National Grid is bringing in extra crews from outside of Central New York this morning in an effort to restore power for those who are still without power from the storm that blew through the area early Monday. Restoration efforts were strong through the day Monday, however. Working around the clock, company employees managed to bring the number of customers without power down from approximately 100,000 customers to approximately 20,000.

Without Additional Pre-K Students, Fulton Will Have To Return State Dollars

The benefit of additional state aid for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten program in Fulton may soon be lost if the district doesn’t receive a few more students. The district has to enroll 162 students by Oct. 1 or cut a refund check to the state for a portion of state aid money received for the 2008-09 school year. As of Friday, the district was approximately a dozen students short of that goal.

Oswego County DSS Asks NYS to Review Agency Records

Oswego County child welfare workers had been inside the home of Erin Maxwell at some point before her death, which police call a homicide.  Oswego County officials say that while the home was in bad condition, it did not meet the requirements for pulling the child from the home.  Now, under scrutiny after the 11 year old girl’s death, the county is asking the state to investigate to see if it did everything by the book.

Two weeks since the death of 11-year-old Erin Maxwell, state police still have little to say about why the girl is dead. They won’t comment about potential suspects related to her death. They are, however, revealing a few more details about the conditions that she lived under at 1678 state Route 264 in Palermo.
