Mayor Barlow Announces Partnership With Verizon To Boost Service In Oswego

Mayor Billy Barlow announced today the City of Oswego has negotiated with Small Wireless Bell Atlantic Mobile Systems, LLC, operating as Verizon, for the installation of several 5G ‘small cells’ and ‘distributed antenna systems’ throughout the City of Oswego, thereby improving cell coverage for all residents, businesses, and visitors to the City of Oswego. The Master License Agreement grants Verizon a nonexclusive license to access, use, and occupy the City’s rights of way to install small cell facilities throughout the City.  The small cell facilities will bring 5G capability to a wide range of mobile device users.

Wall Located In Oswego River Off Limits To Fishermen, Change Made By Oswego Common Council

Fishermen angling upstream in the Oswego River will now encounter changes; the city-owned wall in the middle of the Oswego River near the switchback will now be off limits, according to a resolution passed during the Oswego Common Council meeting held Monday, April 8.

Mayor Billy Barlow has allocated $50,000 from the Oswego Police Department’s budget to be used by the end of 2023 to ramp up quality of life patrols and special investigation details including drug enforcement, homeless canvassing and increases in late night staffing to combat disturbances.
