Library Celebrates Grand Opening

<p>Mayor Randy Bateman leads the ribbon cutting to officially reopen the library.</p>

The newly renovated building adds more than 14,000 square feet of space to the library. It also offers several other updates. Tania Werbizky of the Preservation League of New York State congratulated everyone on a job well done in saving and enhancing the building. Their efforts, she said, will be used as a model for others looking to save historic buildings.

Council To Consider Security Upgrades For Police, Water Departments

The police department is looking to purchase wireless video surveillance equipment. They also want to submit a proposal to the NYS Department of Criminal Justice Services for its “Operation IMPACT Tools” grant. The Water Department wants authorization to accept a State Office of Homeland Security Grant, to update its camera security system.

Judge Resets Bail In Stoughtenger Case

In light of new charges brought against 20-year-old Andrew J. Stoughtenger in Onondaga County Oct. 14, Oswego County Court Judge Walter Hafner Jr., decided this week that he should pay a $500,000 in cash to be released from Oswego County’s jail relative to an indictment brought against him in July that charges him with 12 counts of second-degree burglary.

Oswego Schools Set Emergency Closing And Delay Procedures

As in the past a variety of communication venues will be used in the event that school is closed or delayed. The district desires to make a decision to close or delay by 5:30 a.m. and as always this message will be delivered through the numerous communications outlets. This year the district communication between school and home has been enhanced with the addition of School Messenger.

Oswego School Board Updated On BOCES Proposal

<p>Dr. Joseph Camerino, BOCES district superintendent, updates the Oswego school board on the upcoming vote on the BOCES capital project proposal.</p>

The proposed project includes renovation of approximately 196,000 existing square feet as well as adding approximately 70,000 square feet of new space. The new space essentially replaces several buildings that are no longer suitable for use, according to Dr. Joseph Camerino, BOCES district superintendent.
