Local Business: Layoffs Would Be Certain if $15 Minimum Wage Passes Legislature

Assemblyman Will Barclay today (March 8) said that 64% of local business owners surveyed said they would have to cut jobs if New York adopted the $15 minimum wage mandate. Nearly 100 local business owners completed the survey. Respondents ranged from those who employ a small staff to those who employ as many as 200 people.

Coalition Aims To Curb Drug Abuse By Youth

Data from a survey conducted by the Coalition to Combat Adolescent Substance Abuse in Oswego County shows that alcohol is the main drug abused by youths in Oswego County. According to research from the coalition, the top three drugs of concern for youths in Oswego County are alcohol, prescription drugs and marijuana, with alcohol being the biggest concern.

Fulton Officials Schedule Public Hearing

The Fulton Common Council has scheduled a public hearing regarding a proposal to mend non-conforming use laws. The hearing is scheduled to take place at a regular council meeting after the public comment section on April 5 starting at 7 p.m. in the city municipal building, 141 S. First St. City officials say they’d like to amend the law to consider each property on an individual basis.
