White Christmas Only In Your Dreams, Thanks To El Niño

It looks like Santa Claus better have wheels on his sleigh tonight. According to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service, “Each year we have about a 66.6 percent chance of a white Christmas. This year, it looks like the other 33.3 percent will win out.” After a brief visit from Old Man Winter a couple days ago, December is back in “Indian Summer Mode.”

Fort Ontario to Showcase Unique History in 2016 Exhibit

Fort Ontario State Historic Site will open a new interactive main exhibit next year to interpret its role as one of the nation’s most historically significant military sites. The exhibit’s centerpiece will be a section of the original fence that circled the post during World War II when it served as the only refugee shelter in the United States for victims of the Nazi Holocaust.

Task Force Announces Ambitious Poverty Reduction Action Plan for Oswego County

Development of a comprehensive economic development plan is one of the first steps that an anti-poverty task force will take in an ambitious plan to reduce poverty and unemployment in Oswego County. The recommendation was one of many goals outlined in a consultant’s report to the Oswego County Community Health and Poverty Reduction Task Force earlier this month at CiTi, the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation in Mexico.

Winners of 2015 Parade of Trees at Fulton Pratt House Listed

The John Wells Pratt House Museum of Fulton has held the annual Parade of Trees for roughly 35 years. Developed as a way for the residents of the city of Fulton and local businesses and organizations to come together during the holiday season, the event has only grown with each passing year. Today, the event is open to any school, non-profit organization or business that is interested in entering a decorated tree for the contest. Any person or group interested may enter a decorated Christmas tree in any of the four categories including adult, youth, child or business. The following presents the first, second and third places winners for each category.
