Oswego City School District voters might see a substantial change in the process in May 2016. Prior to the start of the Oswego City School District Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, the board heard an extensive presentation from Oswego County Board of Elections Commissioner Richard Atkins.
U.S. Representative John Katko was joined Monday by Onondaga County DA Bill Fitzpatrick and Teresa Woolson as well as local law enforcement, healthcare and treatment service providers, and prevention advocates, in announcing that he has introduced bipartisan legislation, H.R. 4229, the Protecting Our Youth from Dangerous Synthetic Drugs Act, which would make it easier to prosecute the sale and distribution of synthetic drugs.
On Thursday, December 10, investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force arrested James A. Capozzi, 49, of 13 Ellen St., Fulton and Melissa S. Ives, 37, of 9 N. Fourth St., Fulton. The arrests were based on a Drug Task Force investigation into the possession and sales of heroin within the city of Fulton. Further charges against Capozzi and Ives for possession with intent and sale of heroin are pending at this time.

Today (Dec. 11), at approximately 6 a.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team and Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team executed methamphetamine related search warrants at four separate residences in eastern Oswego County. Several arrests were made.
The city of Oswego Community Development Office submitted two applications for consideration in the 2015 Regional Economic Development Council Consolidated Funding Application round. The two projects awarded are the City of Oswego Waterfront Feasibility Study, and the other was the West Side Wastewater Sewer Rehab project.
After a two-part meeting Thursday, the Oswego County Legislature approved the 2016 spending plan. The budget contains a tax hike of 2.8 percent. That is down from 3.9 percent at the start of the meeting.
The accident happened at 9:07 a.m. on Route 49. The 46 students on board at the time of the accident were all evaluated by medical personnel, and three students were transported to the hospital in an abundance of caution. The driver of the passenger vehicle was extricated from the car and taken to the hospital for treatment.
