Oswego Police Investigate Valero Robbery

On Tuesday (December 15), at about 10:07 p.m., the Oswego Police Department responded to 181 E. First St., the Valero for a robbery complaint. It was reported that a male entered Valero and demanded cash. No weapon was displayed. No one was injured during the robbery, but the male did make off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Ritchie Announces Measure To Cut Costs For Farmers Signed Into Law

State Senator Patty Ritchie and Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther announced their legislation to save farmers across the state millions of dollars by cutting fees to register trailers used for transporting produce, livestock and other items in half has been signed into law. Currently, trucks used for farming activities can be registered for a lesser fee than those used for other purposes.

While the 3rd Battalion, 28th U.S. Infantry was away on summer maneuvers and training, National Guard Coast and Anti-Aircraft Artillery units occupied Fort Ontario and trained at ranges along the shore of Lake Ontario.

First Day Hike Planned at Fort Ontario

Friends of Fort Ontario will host a First Day Hike around the Fort Ontario National Register District on Jan. 1, beginning at 10 a.m. The event is part of a nationwide initiative to encourage all to begin the New Year by rejuvenating and connecting with the outdoors. Historic Site Manager Paul Lear will lead the 2.5-mile family and dog-friendly hike which will proceed at a moderate pace.

Onondaga County DA Joins Katko In Announcing Push To Crack Down On Synthetic Drugs

U.S. Representative John Katko was joined Monday by Onondaga County DA Bill Fitzpatrick and Teresa Woolson as well as local law enforcement, healthcare and treatment service providers, and prevention advocates, in announcing that he has introduced bipartisan legislation, H.R. 4229, the Protecting Our Youth from Dangerous Synthetic Drugs Act, which would make it easier to prosecute the sale and distribution of synthetic drugs.

Fulton Pair Facing Felony Drug Charge

On Thursday, December 10, investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force arrested James A. Capozzi, 49, of 13 Ellen St., Fulton and Melissa S. Ives, 37, of 9 N. Fourth St., Fulton. The arrests were based on a Drug Task Force investigation into the possession and sales of heroin within the city of Fulton. Further charges against Capozzi and Ives for possession with intent and sale of heroin are pending at this time.
