While it has circulated on social media that AAA offers a Holiday Safe Ride Program, a AAA representative confirmed that Western and Central New York, including Oswego County, do not participate in this program. However, there are many options in the Oswego and Fulton area to ensure you get to and from your New Year’s celebrations safely.

2015 In Review: August – Remembering Julian Thomas Ross

Julian Ros was born on May 14, 2005. He was called home on August 8, 2015, at 3:30 a.m. He had been in the final stages of Neuroblastoma and had been in hospice care since early this year. Also, a public safety telecommunicator for the Oswego County E-9-1-1 center helps save a life, and fire strikes an Oswego landmark.

2015 In Review: July – Harborfest 28 Kicks Off In The Port City

Opening night music started at 5:15 p.m. with Avalanche, the US Army Band followed at 7 p.m. by Nik and the Nice Guys. The party band from nearby Rochester got the festival off to a great start with many in the audience singing and dancing along with them. Also attracting a large crowd was Oswego’s Fourth of July Parade.

Julian Ross couldn’t go to DisneyWorld — so a cadre of volunteers brought DisneyWorld to Oswego. However, Julian was unable to get to Oswego. His mother, Kristi, shared the event with him via a video chat on her phone. Several Disney characters entertained the children.

2015 In Review: May – Incumbents Maintain Their School Board Seats, Budget Passed

Garnering the most votes was Lynda Sereno, the current board vice president, with an unofficial count of 1,398. Tom DeCastro tallied the second most votes with an unofficial total of 1,310. The final count for the budget was 1,150 yes, and 1.079 no. Also, The Oswego Boxing Club is now home of a champion. Thomas Nitzke Jr. competed in the Golden Gloves Championship. He won the 123-pound class.
