Fulton City 2015 Election Results

While the 2015 election seemed uneventful for Fulton voters, the results are in for the contested races in city council and legislature. Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. ran uncontested as did three incumbent council seats in the first ward, fourth ward and sixth ward. However, the second ward, third ward and fifth ward saw one incumbent and five all new candidates running for their council seat.

County Leaders React To Impending Closure Of FitzPatrick – ‘We Will Survive’

Our first thoughts today are with the employees, families and businesses that will be impacted, Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner and Oswego County Administrator Philip Church said in a joint statement to the media this afternoon. “This community appreciates the hard-working people who may be impacted, and we want you to know we support you,” they said. “We urge federal, state and Entergy officials to continue dialogue, and to not stop working to find a way to keep FitzPatrick operating.”

The night before Halloween, as everyone prepares for the upcoming fright, the Fulton Public Library and the Pratt House Museum showcased their ghostly buildings to the public.

Elected Officials Vow To Fight For FitzPatrick’s Workers, Plant’s Future

State Senator Patty Ritchie summed up Entergy’s announcement that it plans to shut down the James A. FitzPatrick nuclear power plant in one sentence. “To say that the news concerning FitzPatrick is disappointing is a serious understatement,” she told Oswego County Today. Governor Andrew Cuomo expressed the same sentiments.

Eagle Scout’s Project Enhances Trail At Great Bear

Things were getting a little muddied at the Great Bear Springs Recreational Area. So an Eagle Scout stepped in to clear up things. A new puncheon (plank/bog) bridge was constructed by Tim Boyce for his Eagle Scout project. Recently, Tim, a Boy Scout with Troop 715, Fulton, got together with some family and volunteers and constructed a 42-foot puncheon bridge for a seasonally muddy section of a popular well-used trail.

Legislators Updated On Success Of Welfare Fraud Investigations

On October 27, Oswego County District Attorney Gregory Oakes appeared before the Public Safety Committee of the County Legislature and presented a progress report on the county’s Welfare Fraud Program. DA Oakes was joined by Cheryl Wallace, who served as the supervisor of Investigation and Benefit Recovery Unit at the Oswego County Department of Social Services for most of the past four years.
