Every morning, when Diane Zeller enters her kitchen she is greeted with the aroma of fresh brewed coffee and a friendly ‘good morning.’ As a certified home provider for Oswego County Opportunities’ Community Based Family Care Program, Zeller has opened her heart and home to two of the program’s adult residents.
SUNY Oswego University Police Thursday night (Sept. 3) arrested Joshua R. Patterson, 24, of 104 W. Cayuga St. in Oswego and charged him with four counts of second-degree assault, among other charges. Police received a call of a suspicious person on the lakefront outside Scales Hall shortly after 11 p.m. Sept. 3. An officer approached Patterson, who gave a false name and became belligerent, the officer said.
On September 3, at approximately 8:28 p.m., Fulton Police were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident near the intersection of State Route 3 and State Route 481 in the city of Fulton. Through the investigation it was found that two vehicles were involved in the accident and the suspect vehicle had left the scene.
“Southeastern Lake Ontario is eligible for consideration due to the age, type and preserved state of numerous historic shipwrecks and many other features,” said Oswego County Administrator Phil Church, who acted as the emcee for the announcement. “Our goal in seeking an NMS designation is to establish international recognition for the unique features of the region and increase economic, recreational, scientific research and educational activities.”
Weather permitting, the Oswego County Health Department plans to conduct aerial spraying of approximately 10,000 acres of land in the Big Bay/Toad Harbor Swamp area in portions of the towns of Hastings, West Monroe and Constantia between 6 and 9 p.m. this evening, Sept. 4.
Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit 1 automatically shut down at 9:15 a.m. today (Sept. 4), when a steam valve closed during routine testing. Operators responded appropriately, and all systems functioned as designed. The shutdown does not present any risk to public health or safety.
Officials from Oswego, Jefferson, Cayuga and Wayne counties and the city of Oswego joined federal representatives this morning (Sept. 4) as they announced their proposal for a National Marine Sanctuary in the southeastern waters of Lake Ontario.
August 2015 was warm, but not as warm as Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service, suspected. The average temperature for last month was 69.6 degrees. That’s just 0.2-degree above average. Total precipitation for the month came in at 0.91-inch below average.
The Oswego County Health Department announced today that new regulations affecting air conditioner cooling towers and recirculated water systems have been adopted by the NYS Department of Health. The new regulations are intended to protect the public’s health by preventing community outbreaks of Legionnaires’ disease similar to the outbreak which recently occurred in New York City.
UPDATE: On 09/03/15 at approximately 7:15 pm the city of Oswego police Department announced that the two missing juveniles, Zachary Warren and Alexis Centrone were located in the city of Oswego.
The, Oswego City Police Department, is attempting to locate two juveniles. The missing juveniles are 12-year-old female, Alexis Centrone and 14-year-old male, Zachary D Warren.
