Oswego Mayor Urges Water Conservation Measures Continue
Oswego Mayor Tom Gillen has announced that due to construction work on the Riley Booster Station and other associated water distribution system plans, he is repeating his request from earlier this month for residents to continue to conserve water usage for the next few weeks.

Christina’s Credits – Harborfest 2015 Returns To Family-Friendly Roots
Harborfest was relatively quiet and modestly participated this year. There were not as many vendors as previous years. This may have led to this year’s low turnout. And thanks to the many law enforcement agencies, Harborfest this year had a renewed family feeling. Syracuse’s jazz and wine festival and craft fair might have contributed to the reduced crowds, also.

Scriba Man Sentenced To Prison on Drug Charges
Emmanuel A. Frederick (dob: 5/12/59) of Scriba, NY, was sentenced today (July 28) in Oswego County Court to 9 years in state prison, along with 3 years post-release supervision, on each of three separate counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony. On July 2, a jury found Frederick guilty of the three felonies after a four-day trial in Oswego County Court.
$150,000 Earmarked For Local Fishing Tournaments
State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced she has secured $150,000 in special funding to help boost tourism by promoting fishing tournaments throughout Jefferson, Oswego and St. Lawrence counties. Funding secured by Senator Ritchie will support more than a dozen tournaments throughout the region she represents.
Oswego To Apply For Block Grant Funds
The city plans to use the funding to improve its aging infrastructure, specifically its sewer system. The target areas would be on the west side of the Port City and include the city’s component of SUNY Oswego.

The New York State Beach Water Quality website provides up-to-date information on the status and water sample results of public beaches at Mexico Point Park, Selkirk Shores State Park and Sandy Island Beach, and private beaches at Dowie Dale, Chedmardo, Brennan’s Beach and Ontario Shores campgrounds in Oswego County.

Food, one of the many reasons people crowd Breitbeck Park in Oswego each summer for Harborfest. The usual selections like gyros, wine slushies and fried dough bring people back to the food and newer selections add a fun flare each year. Featuring the main concert stage, beer tent and a big selection of vendors, Breitbeck was the definitive stop for Harborfest-goers looking to relax, enjoy a meal and great music.
