UPDATED INFORMATION: State Police said today (July 21) that they have located Alicia M. Guzman safe and in good health. The State Police would like to thank the public for assisting us in the search for Alicia. On July 12, 16-year-old Alicia M. Guzman of Mexico, was reported as a missing person/possible runaway by a relative.

Repairs Under Way To Oswego Public Library Turrets

LeChase Construction began repairs on the interior turrets of the Oswego Public Library today (July 20). Repairs will take approximately four weeks to complete. Please do not enter the area blocked off in front of the library or along the upper portion of the library’s sidewalk located on the south side of the building while construction is under way.

Kite experts from around the United States and Canada, including members of New York Kite Enthusiasts and noted kite historian Thom Shanken, will help kite fliers of all ages and skill levels on the windswept grounds around the old fort. In addition to kite flying, AmeriCorps staffer Shannon Cilento will supervise pickup matches of croquet on the parade ground inside the fort.

Fulton School Board Seeks Consultant Help with Elementary Enrollment Study

The Fulton School District Board of Education will be reaching out to a consultant for assistance in a study regarding class sizes at the elementary level. In a regular board meeting at the end of the school year, class sizes for the four elementary schools for next year were presented. The board was asked for permission to conduct a study into these numbers and possible outcomes for remedying the issues.

Army National Guard helicopter crews train with sheriff deputies, firefighters on Oneida Lake Saturday

New York Army National Guard helicopter crews and four helicopters will conduct hoist rescue training with local sheriff and fire departments on Oneida Lake in the vicinity of Frenchman Island on Saturday. The helicopter crews and sheriff and local fire departments will exercise a scenario in which a fire department rescue boat retrives a victim in the water and calls for assistance from a National Guard helicopter.

Fulton School Board Appoints Officers For New School Year

The Fulton Board of Education held its annual reorganizational meeting and appointed its officers for the 2015-2016 school year. The board named David Cordone as president and returned Dan Pawlewicz as vice president and Barbara Hubbard as clerk. Cordone was later acknowledged in the regular meeting of the board of education for recognition of the amount of board development activities he has participated in over the years.

Public Hearing Set On Block Grant Program

The hearing will be at 7:10 p.m. July 27 in the Council Chambers at City Hall, West Oneida Street. The purpose is to discuss the city’s intent to apply for New York State Community Development Block Grant funds through the Regional Economic Development Council’s consolidated funding application. Oswego intends to apply for the funding to address the city’s infrastructure needs.
