Assemblyman Will Barclay said he was pleased to learn that Agrana Fruit US Inc., Byrne Dairy, and Ultra Dairy LLC will receive low-cost electricity through the state’s ReCharge New York Program. ReCharge New York was part of the 2011-12 enacted budget.

Oswego native Joseph Pilotta belives a floating $150 million, 150,000 square foot facility will still become a reality in Oswego Harbor. Pilotta, vice president of Digital Financial Group of Columbus, Ohio, visited his hometown earlier this week to chat with people, in both the public and private sectors, on his vision for a business, retail, entertainment and residential facility.
A hand-painted mural, created by the Oswego County AmeriCorps program and children taking part in activities at this year’s Oswego Harborfest, now brightens a wall at Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton. The mural was painted during events at Harborfest’s Children’s Park.

Sitting on the mouth of the Oswego River on Oswego’s east side Fort Ontario sees visitors and activities all summer long. The peak of the fort’s summer happenings was this past Harborfest Weekend. The fort went back in time for the weekend with men and women volunteers dressed in their blue Union Army uniforms and old fashion white blouses, respectively. Even former President Abraham Lincoln made an appearance.
The H. Lee White Museum and Maritime Center will host a celebration of Oswego’s waterfront on Aug. 17. The whole family can enjoy a day at the beautiful waterfront where Lake Ontario meets the Oswego River Canal. Festival activities and historic presentations run from 10 a.m. to 5 pm. in Oswego’s Historic Maritime District on the West First Street Pier.
The Coast Guard rescued two men from Lake Ontario after they were reported to be overdue late Saturday. The men’s names and hometowns are not being released. Just after 10 p.m., a woman reported to Coast Guard Station Oswego that her son was overdue returning from a roundtrip voyage from Little Sodus Bay to Oswego in his 15-foot sailboat.
The Oswego County E-911 Office reports that Frontier telephone service in the Hannibal area has been disrupted due to a problem with a fiber optic cable. Customers who need emergency assistance should call 911 on a cell phone or go to a local fire station for assistance until the line is repaired.
