Wilcox/Glenister family continues to fight EEE

The Maggie Sue Glenister Wilcox Foundation’s recent efforts raised more than $2,000. The family wants to make sure the public is educated about EEE, so that no other family has to go through what they have. The ultimate goal is to one day have a vaccine available to the general public. The deadly virus took the life of the foundation’s Maggie Sue Glenister Wilcox in the fall of 2011.

New Parking Rules Increase Safety at Kiwanis Park

Most attendees of baseball games at Kiwanis Park in Fulton have had issues with parking from time to time. Previously, on the blocks of South Seventh Street between Fay Street and the park “No Parking 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.” signs marked the street. Mayor Woodward announced at Tuesday’s Common Council meeting a code change would go into effect and “No Parking” signs will replace the previous signs.

David C. Webb Memorial Park Bathing Beach Is Closed

The Oswego County Health Department announced today (July 3) that the David C. Webb Memorial Park Bathing Beach on Oneida Lake in the town of Constantia has been closed to swimming due to the presence of a blue-green algae bloom. The beach will remain closed until the blooms have cleared and the health department approves its re-opening.

Oswego Man Arrested After Crashing Into City Police Vehicle

The suspect vehicle was unable to properly negotiate the intersection at Bunner Street at Maple Street and reportedly collided with a marked Oswego City Police Department patrol vehicle. The officer suffered minor injuries, however, was able to exit his damaged patrol vehicle and place the operator into custody.

Legal challenge to county reapportionment plan on hold – for now

At this time, I am announcing that the legal challenge to the reapportionment plan passed by the Oswego County Legislative majority last December, has been put on hold, Oswego County Legislator Dan Farfaglia said . We are simply putting our efforts on hold and intend resume the legal battle to rectify this travesty later this year he said.
