June 2013 may have been warm and humid, but that didn’t translate into a warmer than average month. The average temperature last month was a rather muggy 65.1 degrees. But, as things turned out, that was 0.2-degree cooler than average, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service.

The department has a FEMA Grant of $149,538 and more than $23,000 in other funding. However, it is still nearly $30,000 shy of being able to make the purchase. The council will consider putting up the money if the department can find ways to pay it back.

An invasive species is defined by the federal Executive Order 13112 that establishes a National Invasive Species Council as a species that is non-native to the ecosystem of interest and whose introduction causes or is likely to cause economic or environmental harm or harm to human health.
