The 25th annual Severe Hazards Awareness Week will be observed in Oswego County and throughout the state April 28 through May 4. As part of its educational campaign, Oswego County Emergency Management Acting Director Terry Bennett reminds residents of the precautions they should take when hazardous weather conditions are predicted.
The annual “Walk for Autism” drew approximately 300 people to Leighton Elementary School and the nearby Wilber Field on Saturday afternoon. Organizers admit the number was down from past years, but the participants were “just as dedicated as ever.” Besides acting as a fundraiser, the event, sponsored by the Oswego County Autism Task Force, also focused attention on the plight of Autism victims in Oswego County.
“I think it’s going to rock some people’s worlds,” said Dr. Clay Price, SUNY Oswego Director of Choral Activities. The piece he’s referring to is Dona Nobis Pacem by Ralph Vaughn Williams, which will be performed by the Festival Chorus.
The family of Patricia Gryczka gathered in Onondaga County Court on Friday before Judge Anthony Aloi for the sentencing of Larry Frank of Phoenix. “[Frank] deserves every second of the 25 to life sentence you are about to impose on him,” the prosecutor told Judge Aloi. “Basically, he committed a brutal murder over $2,500.”
“As the result of interviews with the two finalists this week, the board has elected to continue its search to secure the person who would best match the needs of the Oswego City School District.”
A Phoenix man was sentenced to the maximum for killing his sister-in-law. Based on his admission to second-degree murder, Larry Frank was sentenced today (April 26) to the maximum – 25 years to life behind bars. “Your conduct on that evening can only be described as brutal, callous, and inhumane,” Judge Anthony Aloi told him in court today.
