Assemblyman Will Barclay presented Dr. Ronald Uva of Oswego Health with an Assembly Resolution April 19 at Oswego Hospital. Dr. Uva recently received the Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The Assembly Resolution commemorates that award as well as his 30 plus years as an obstetrician and gynecologist.
At a special ceremony Wednesday night, the best of the best of Fulton’s Police and Fire department’s were honored for their service during 2012. The Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year were also announced.

Junior Girl Scout Claudia Chetney wants all kids to enjoy the game of soccer as she has had the opportunity to do so for the past nine years. So, when the seventh grader was considering what she would do for her Girl Scout Silver Award, Chetney brainstormed on paper all the areas that she saw a need in her community and came up with helping kids with disabilities play the sports and it seemed only natural to pick the one she knew best.
On Monday afternoon, the shock of the Boston Marathon bomb incident was felt all over the nation – including Oswego, NY. Three people were confirmed dead; more than 100 were injured, some very seriously. Port City resident Jennifer Bradshaw’s sister, Michelle Navarroli, had been standing at the finish line, waiting for her fiancé to finish the race. When reports of a bombing at the marathon were broadcast Monday afternoon, Michelle’s family was terrified.
Search incidental to the arrest resulted in the seizure of 20 bags of crack cocaine, having an aggregate weight of 8.2 grams as well as $1,140 in US currency from the driver’s person, police said.

Stemming from the same investigation, Allison Plumley of Fulton, was arrested for Criminal Possession of Precursors of Methamphetamine and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.

As a part of the Thrive Oswego County Community Incubator initiative, the SUNY Oswego Office of Business and Community Relations will host the Oswego County Community Awareness Regarding Exceptional Services (CARES) Expo. The May 9 expo will showcase a wide range of human services available to Oswego County residents, as well as several mini seminars of community interest.
An area business owner said it would improve safety in the area and make it easier for traffic to get onto Utica Street. Second Ward Councilor Shawn Walker said he has received some feedback. He will schedule a town hall meeting to bring everyone together for more input before any decision is made.
