As Harborfest prepares for its 26th event this July, it is important to recognize those volunteers that are necessary to make each festival a success. A pre-Harborfest recognition night, sponsored by Canale’s Restaurant, has been set aside for April 22.
Rep. Dan Maffei marked his first 100 days in office April 15 with the announcement of a new plan to create jobs and grow Central New York’s economy at a press conference at the Central New York Philanthropy Center. Maffei was joined by dozens of Central New York business leaders, small business owners, and economic leaders.
The site of the former Pathfinder Industries building looks much different now than it did back in March, after the building was destroyed by fire. The day after the fire, the owners met with Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward and the Common Council and demolition permits were handed out. The space is now a vacant lot ready to be built upon again.
The “Class of 2012” will be inducted into the Oswego High School Athletic Hall of Fame this Saturday 20 at Alexandria’s. The Oswego Buccaneer Boosters Club continues its support of the Hall of Fame as the fifth class will be introduced and inducted as members of the elite Buc athletes.
Replacement batteries have been mailed to county residents who have an emergency planning tone-alert weather radio from the Oswego County Emergency Management Office. Emergency Services Program Coordinator Terry Bennett said that replacement batteries are mailed to residents on an annual basis to ensure proper operation of these radios.

Over two years ago, Marissa Hill woke up with words in her head. In the middle of the night she penned the story that would eventually inspire her senior project at SUNY Oswego. These words became “Our Walk,” a collection of 11 paintings and picture book all created by Hill. “Our Walk” is currently on display at The Coffeenook on West Second Street in Oswego and will be featured until the end of the month.
The Oswego County Department of Social Services facility at 100 Spring St. will officially re-open to the public at 8:30 a.m. April 29. The Mexico office building was closed in December for asbestos abatement and building repairs. Since then, services have been provided at the former Cayuga Community College facility on state Route 3, Fulton.
Residents of the villages of Sandy Creek and Lacona no longer need to boil their drinking water. Jiancheng Huang, Oswego County Director of Public Health, said several water samples were taken Wednesday and Thursday.The test results are satisfactory, indicating that the water is safe for residents to drink and use for cooking.
