A bill has been introduced in the New York State Assembly, (the number is A893-2013), which moves the animal cruelty laws from the Agriculture and Markets law to the Penal law. We need you to contact your local assembly person and ask him or her to support this bill.

“Children’s exposure to violence and abuse is a concern not only in Oswego County, but across the country,” said Karrie Damm, executive director of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County. The forum stressed taking a collaborative approach to curbing the problem. Keeping the lines of communication open between everyone was also a key goal.
Influenza is impacting all of Central New York, with many counties reporting historic numbers of flu cases already. “Oswego County has received reports of over 700 cases of influenza since October,” reported Jiancheng Huang, Public Health Director for Oswego County.

UPDATE: The cause of the house fire early this morning at 195 West Eighth St. appears to be unattended food left on the stove, Chief Jeff McCrobie said. The structure is a total loss, he added. The lone resident at home at the time got out of the building along with a dog. He was being treated at the hospital.
