A living history event commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War (1861 – 1865) will take place Sept, 29 and 30, on the historic grounds of Fort Ontario State Historic Site in Oswego. Infantry and artillery demonstrations will take place throughout the day.
The summer of 2012 was a warm one; but it wasn’t a record-break, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service. The average temperature was 71.2 degrees. That is 2.7 degrees warmer than average, Gregway said. Going back to 1855, that ties with the summer of 1876 for fifth warmest on record.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation based out of the Fulton Barracks, in conjunction with the New York State Computer Crimes Unit have arrested Neal J. Hart, 11/09/80, 44 West Fifth Street South, Fulton, after a two-week-long investigation.
Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang said today that mosquitoes carrying the West Nile (WNV) virus are still present at test sites around the county and residents should continue to take measures to protect themselves against mosquito bites.
On Thursday at 8:50 a.m., Tony B. Hollenbeck, 41, of`3424 W. Cactus Road, Phoenix, Ariz., was arrested at the Oswego County Correctional Facility based on an arrest warrant issued out of Oswego County Court by Judge Walter Hafner.
Dozens of “sickened” young people descended on Oswego Hospital Thursday. It was all part of a large drill and the teens’ participation helped train those who’d respond to such an event if this had been an actual emergency. The drill focused primarily on the hospital’s ability to effectively respond to incidents that would involve large numbers of chemically contaminated patients who self-report to the facility.
At 9:24 a.m.today (Sept. 20), Nine Mile Point Unit 1 experienced an automatic reactor shut down. The preliminary data indicates the unit experienced a Turbine trip, but the exact cause has not yet been identified, according to company spokesperson Jill Lyon.
