In preparation for Harborfest 2012, the Oswego Police Department wishes to announce the following advisories regarding traffic, pedestrian and general information specific to the Harborfest Celebration scheduled for July 25-29.
After a bout against the North Country Lumber Jills in Plattsburgh on July 14, two carloads of Oz league members were on Route 11 near Malone after midnight when they spotted something large in the road.
Diana Graser, regional traffic engineer, and Scott Bates, of the New York State DOT, joined representatives of the city, the Oswego Network of Entrepreneurs, ARISE, the National Federation of the Blind and the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce to follow up on a survey of pedestrian cross walks on Bridge Street.

We’re going to start seeing some relief as temperatures drop into the 80s.
It wasn’t quite a record on Tuesday, but it still was a lot hotter than average for July. The temperature hit 93 degrees during the afternoon; the record for July 17, however, is 98 set in 1876. It was the first 90 degree or warmer day since May 29, 2012, when it reached 90 degrees.
The preliminary data indicates the unit experienced a Turbine trip, but the exact
cause has not yet been identified, according to Jill Lyon, CENG – Nine Mile Point
Nuclear Station spokesperson.
The temperature reached 100 degrees only once officially in this area (July 1, 1878). Mr. Weatherman says some places today just might see triple digits.
Last week, some very special young guests arrived in Fulton. A group of youngsters, ages 6-18, will be spending a few weeks enjoying the summer weather of CNY thanks to the Fresh Air Fund. On Tuesday another small group of children will be arriving in Fulton to spend part of their summer vacations here.
