A Republican county commissioner in Florida says he’s quitting his seat and moving back to the county where he grew up so he can run for Congress.
Jeff Stabins, according to the St. Petersburg Times, said he has bought his dream house in Sackets Harbor and is moving there to run for the Republican nomination to take on Democratic incumbent Bill Owens.

Students To Honor Dr. Edward Austin Sheldon This School Year
Students around Oswego will pay homage this coming school year to a man whose name is synonymous with education. The 2011-2012 school year will be dedicated to Dr. Edward Austin Sheldon, according to a resolution unanimously passed Tuesday night by the Oswego Board of Education. Sheldon is the founder of the college that today is SUNY Oswego
Oswego County Aerial Spray Is Postponed – Spray Area Expanded
UPDATE: More EEE Founnd – Spray Area Expanded The Oswego County Health Department postponed its plans to spray an area of central Oswego County tonight (Aug. 24) due to the high wind forecast. Wind speed is one of the many parameters used to make the determination to proceed with aerial spraying.

UPDATE: The street is now open Please be advised that Curtis Street (St Rt 176) in the City of Fulton, will be closed to through traffic from West Fourth Street South to Powers Drive. Police say the closure is expected to last until around 1 p.m.

The area encompasses nearly 18,000 acres in the towns of New Haven, Volney, Hastings, Palermo and Mexico. Aerial spraying began with the southern portion of the area and worked in a northerly direction, covering about two-thirds of the area.
