State Declares Emergency Due to Hurricane Irene; County ‘Monitoring Events’ For Now

This image, from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, shows the probable path of Hurricane Irene as of 5:00 p.m. Thursday.  The projection shows New York City is directly in the path of the hurricane, while Central New York is on the edge of the storm.  It's only a projection of the likely outcome and can change.  Oswego County’s emergency managers are keeping an eye on Hurricane Irene’s path, but so far, see no reason to join the state in its round-the-clock emergency response to the cyclone.

“We’re monitoring the events,” said Terry Bennett, emergency services program coordinator for the county.

Oswego County Aerial Spray Is Postponed – Spray Area Expanded

UPDATE: More EEE Founnd – Spray Area Expanded  The Oswego County Health Department postponed its plans to spray an area of central Oswego County tonight (Aug. 24) due to the high wind forecast. Wind speed is one of the many parameters used to make the determination to proceed with aerial spraying.
