Novelis got the ball rolling – donating a check for $5,000 and another for $1,000 from activities they had under way prior to the official campaign kick off. This year’s theme is: ‘Live United Live Well’ with a campaign goal of $800,000.

The Port City celebrated its prominent role in the Underground Railroad Saturday with the unveiling of a panel outside of the Oswego Public Library. The unveiling was followed by a powerful performance delivered by storyteller Vanessa Johnson at a luncheon hosted by Bridie Manor. The event was sponsored by Pathfinder Bank.
At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council agreed to the Stipulation and Order set forth by the NYS Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services regarding violations by the city’s fire department. The state mandated the city pay a $10,000 fine for those violations – $8,000 will be suspended if the department doesn’t violate any other laws.
All of the residents at 38-40 W. Third St. must be out of the building by Sept. 30, the Common Council said Monday night. Officials were looking at residents of just one apartment; however, they decided Monday night that everyone must move out of the premises to safely perform a thorough extermination of the bugs.
