When the weather outside turns frightful, the people of Hannibal go outdoors.Ã‚Â Hannibal Winterfest takes place this weekend at Kenney Middle School and the Hannibal Municipal Building next door.Ã‚Â Human dogsled races, as you see in the photo above, are only part of the fun.Ã‚Â There are lots of outdoor events and indoor events for those who need a break from the weather.Ã‚Â Click inside to see the entire schedule of events.

Phoenix Firefighter Arrested After Gas Is Taken From Fire Station

A volunteer firefighter in Phoenix has been arrested and accused of stealing cans of gasoline from the fire department.

Matthew J. Fratello, 25, of 22 Maplehurst Dr., Phoenix was charged by Phoenix village police with two misdemeanors: petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. He was released on an appearance ticket and has resigned from the fire department.

Fulton Police cleared up a nearly year-old case of stolen checks with three arrests this week.

The department alleges that on February 24, 2009, someone stole the personal checks of another person.Ã‚Â Within a month, six of the stolen checks had been cashed at local banks.

The two defendants, Jack Lukens and Vickie Hughes, who were convicted Wednesday of stealing from two Fulton businesses, were sentenced Thursday. Both were sent to state prison for the 2008 crimes. Each received the maximum due to their lengthy criminal history.

Movie Gallery Declares Bankruptcy, Closing Stores; Fulton, Pulaski Not Affected

Movie Gallery’s outlets in Oswego County will not be affected, at least initially, by the company’s move to close nearly one third of its stores.

The company, which owns the Movie Gallery and Hollywood Video rental store chains, and the Game Crazy videogame chain, filed for bankruptcy protection from its creditors late Tuesday in a Virginia federal court.

Fulton’s Closed Snowmobile Trail Will Open For Event, May Soon Reopen For Good

A spur trail that runs along Route 3 as it enters from the west and ends at Lake Neatahwanta has been closed for several years. But the trail will reopen next week for three days to accommodate The Great Eastern Whiteout.Ã‚Â It could be open full-time soon, something snowmobile enthusiasts want.
