Scene Around Town: Jreck Subs Hasn’t Closed, It Just Moved

It’s been there forever, or so it seems. Jreck Subs has held down the corner of S. 1st St. and Route 3 for decades, not that long after the old Victory Grill closed.

Now it’s gone. The sudden departure appears to have some folks wondering where Jreck went. They’ve even taken their question to the arbiter of all things retail, Post-Standard retail columnist Bob Neidt, who didn’t know either.

Here’s your answer: Jreck moved this week in the long-closed Cam’s NY Pizzeria building next to City Hall and Advance Auto Parts. The new owners tell our Fred Reed (who supplied the cell camera photo below) that they’ll be reopening “in a week or so”. Here’s their new home:

Rest easy, Fultonians. You can continue to enjoy “a meal for your money, not a snack”.

Farmers, Legislators Beef About Slaughterhouse Plan

Proposal to site the nation’s largest slaughterhouse somewhere in Oswego County doesn’t sit well with many. “We shouldn’t be leaping into something that hasn’t been done before, has no track record anywhere,” a member of the Oswego County Farm Bureau’s board cautions legislators The county won’t take any action until it receives a lot more information, the legislature’s chairman said.

Scene Around Town: Field Of Flags

Steven J. Tryon of Central Square posted some pictures and a video (made with his iPhone) of a visit to a field in Adams, Jefferson County that was full of American flags for the 4th of July.  Steven posts lots of his stuff on his website, which is worth a regular visit.
