Without Additional Pre-K Students, Fulton Will Have To Return State Dollars

The benefit of additional state aid for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten program in Fulton may soon be lost if the district doesnÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢t receive a few more students. The district has to enroll 162 students by Oct. 1 or cut a refund check to the state for a portion of state aid money received for the 2008-09 school year. As of Friday, the district was approximately a dozen students short of that goal.

Oswego County child welfare workers had been inside the home of Erin Maxwell at some point before her death, which police call a homicide.Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Oswego County officials say that while the home was in bad condition, it did not meet the requirements for pulling the child from the home.Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â Now, under scrutiny after the 11 year old girl’s death, the county is asking the state to investigate to see if it did everything by the book.
