According to to preliminary seasonally adjusted figures released today by the New York State Department of Labor, the number of private sector jobs in New York State increased over the month by 21,200, or 0.3%, to 8,233,700 in February 2023. The number of private sector jobs in the U.S. increased by 0.2% in February 2023.

DEC Announces Suspected Case Of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza At Reynolds Game Farm

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced a suspected outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) virus at Reynolds Game Farm affecting the farm’s pheasant population. DEC began investigation over suspicious deaths on March 20, and initial test results indicate a possible outbreak of the H5N1 avian influenza (AI) virus. DEC is working closely with animal health experts at the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets (AGM) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Veterinary Services Laboratory to determine next steps at the farm.

HUD Awards $3.2 Million To Fight Housing Discrimination In New York

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today awarded $54 million to 182 fair housing organizations across the country under its Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP). The grants will provide $28,200,000 to support the efforts of national, state, and local fair housing entities working to address violations of the Fair Housing Act and helping to end discrimination in housing. In addition, HUD provided $26,350,000 in funding to its second and third year Private Enforcement Initiative grantees to continue fair housing enforcement efforts nationwide.
