Harbor View Square Development Project Under Way In Oswego

Ground was broken today (November 30) at the Harbor View Square site, 68 W. First St.; it’s the former home of Flexo Wire, a nationwide wire manufacturer and distributor. Harbor View Square will feature 75 rental homes serving a broad range of income targets and more than 10,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space intended for small retail and eateries.

An ‘Oswego Christmas’ To Light Up December 1

Oswego will host its 31st annual tree lighting event, “An Oswego Christmas,” at Civic Plaza on December 1 from 1 to 6:30 p.m.

Jennifer Losurdo, of the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau, has worked tirelessly for months organizing the event. She and a cadre of eleves have been preparing all the details while the city’s DPW was charged with ensuring Civic Plaza and the surrounding area was dressed in its holiday best.

Arrest Made In Central Square Shooting/Robbery

On Monday, November 26, State Police responded to 3247 Fulton Ave., for a report of a man shot inside the residence. A female acquaintance was inside with the victim prior to the break-in. She was identified as Kristine Baker, and was known to both the victim and the two male suspects. She was charged with robbery. The two male suspects are still being sought.

Oswego County AmeriCorps member Corey King has arranged to have the Post Cemetery at Fort Ontario included as an official site in the Wreaths Across America program Dec. 15. The Post Cemetery is the resting place of 77 soldiers who served at Fort Ontario between 1756 and 1943, as well as women and children who lived at the fort.

The Post Cemetery at Fort Ontario will join in the effort to support the mission to “Remember, Honor and Teach” as an official location for Wreaths Across America on Dec. 15.
