Thirty years ago, Colleen Brunner ’90 and Lynne Hartunian ’89 boarded Pan Am Flight 103 to cross the Atlantic Ocean back home to the U.S., but as it passed over Lockerbie, Scotland, the aircraft was destroyed by a bomb, killing all 259 people on board and 11 people on the land below.

International Jewelry Business Relocating To Oswego

An international jewelry business is set to open on Oswego’s west side early next year. LeRoi (fine body jewelry) announced Thursday afternoon that it plans to relocate from its current Fulton facility into a much larger site at 212 W. Second St., Oswego. It will bring 40 employees with it, and is likely to at 10 more with another 10 possible by 2020.

First Day Hike at Fort Ontario will Focus on World War I

Post historian Corey King will lead a unique World War I commemorative First Day Hike around the 75-acre Fort Ontario Military Reservation National Register District at 10 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Tuesday, Jan. 1. The hike pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Nov. 11, 1918, signing of the armistice which brought World War I to a close.

FCSD Revs Up School Security with Armoured One Training

Fulton City School District is taking measures to ensure that student safety remains a top priority. Armoured One, a school security SWAT Team based company out of Syracuse presented a Level One training to every member of the Fulton City School District staff and faculty. The three-hour presentation is intended to empower school employees to respond to an active shooter or safety threat situation by following the “mindset of a survivor.”

Three young adults have been charged in connection with damaging the statue in front of the Oswego Elks Lodge last month. On November 3, at approximately 7:41 a.m., the Oswego City Police Department responded to 132 W. Fifth St., the Oswego Elks Lodge, for reported damage to the elk statue.
