Fulton Block Builders Positively Impacts the “Sealright Community”

Fulton Block Builders is working with homeowners in what’s been known as the “Sealright community,” according to FBB founder, Linda Eagan. The Sealright community is a string of houses in the Cayuga and Utica Streets area, Eagan said. “All of these houses were built by Sealright for their employees around 1945. They were known as the Sealright Homes,” said Jeanette Davis, one of the most recent homeowners to be presented with a Fulton Block Builder matching grant check.

Oswego County Flood Victims Can Pick Up Water Test Kits at Sandy Creek Town Clerk’s Office

Residents of flooded areas who want to have their water tested for bacteria may pick up test kits and drop off water samples at the Sandy Creek Town Clerk’s Office, 1992 Harwood Drive, beginning Monday, June 26. The Oswego County Health Department is working with town officials to make test kits available and to pick up samples of water for lab testing. Samples will be tested for Coliform bacteria and E. coli bacteria.

City Officials in Process of Purchasing Dredge For Lake Neatahwanta Clean-Up

The intended opening of Fulton’s former beach area on Lake Neatahwanta, Stevenson Beach, will be delayed at least another dredging season. Though city officials were once hopeful the beach could reopen this summer, high toxicity levels do not permit swimmable conditions which Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. referred to as “disappointing.” Currently, the city is in the process of buying the dredging equipment from the contractor that has been completing the dredging work in recent years, Groh Dredging.

Interpretive Panel Describes Historical Significance of Fort – Safe Haven

On the site of “hallowed grounds” Tuesday evening, a new outdoor interpretive panel was unveiled near the granite refugee memorial installed in 1981 by the Syracuse Chapter of Pioneer Women/NA’AMMAT and the Jewish Community of Central New York, which was dedicated to the millions of victims of the Nazi Holocaust who never had the opportunity to start a new life. The panel describes the historical significance of the World War II Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter – the only one in the United States.
