The Oswego County Health Department reported Today (March 24), that two new cases of rabies were recently confirmed in Oswego County. They include a skunk in Scriba and a raccoon in Albion. Both animals attacked unvaccinated pet dogs.
The symposium schedule featuring nine respected historians from across the U.S. and Canada has now been finalized. Fort Ontario State Historic Site Superintendent Paul Lear, chairman of the Oswego International War of 1812 Symposium Committee, will emcee the event and open the program each day.
UPDATE: Fulton Police say that Mr. Slight has been located
The Fulton Police Department had asked for assistance in an attempt to locate 53-year-old John Slight.
At its meeting Monday night, the Physical Services Committee gave favorable recommendations to several requests for use of public for upcoming events. However, one councilor took exception to the event coordinators advertising the events and seeking participants prior to ever coming to the council to request use of public space to hold the event(s). If, for some reason, the request was denied, it would make the city look like the bad guy, he said.
The second annual Parent University will be held on April 16, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Fulton Junior High School. All parents, grandparents, and professionals are invited to attend these free seminars.

The Oswego County Legislature has approved an agreement with Oswego County Opportunities to provide free transportation services to senior citizens aged 60 and older through the “Call-N-Ride” program for another year. OCO operates the Call-N-Ride program for “curb-to-curb” transportation to elderly and disabled people within Oswego County who don’t live on a public transportation route.
Mayor William Barlow Jr., asked the Administrative Services Committee to consider a proposal regarding the City Attorney position. A move, he says, will save money in the long-run. Having the City Attorney handle the legal work the city has been outsourcing will save thousands, he said.
In February 2016 State Police in Fulton began investigating a complaint in which 19-year-old William J. Loomis of Fulton allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old victim. Subsequent to investigation police identified a previous victim. Loomis is also accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old victim when he was 17.
On March 18, at approximately 10:13 p.m., State Police in Fulton stopped a vehicle on State Route 48 in the town of Granby. Police observed alleged obvious signs of drug use within the vehicle both on the driver’s side of the vehicle and in the lap of the passenger. The driver and passenger were subsequently arrested.
