Anglers Landed More than 100,000 Salmon from Salmon River last Fall – Salmon and Oswego Rivers Had a Spectacular Fall Season

The NYS DEC estimates that 39,697 steelhead were taken last fall in the Salmon River.Early calculations from the angler survey that New York State’s Department of Environmental Conservation cast over America’s major Lake Ontario tributaries late last summer suggest the tiniest Great Lake’s feeders provide world-class trophy salmonid fishing in the off-season, between Labor Day and Memorial Day.
