Women who are breastfeeding for the first time or those who plan to breast feed are encouraged to attend this event coordinated by the Oswego County Breastfeeding Coalition.

Members of the Oswego Health Auxiliary will hold a lasagna dinner from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 3, at Bridie Manor. The event is open to the public and supports local healthcare.

Oswego Health recognized its many volunteers and members of the Auxiliary for the donation of their time and talents to the health system during a luncheon held during National Volunteer Week. There are more than 100 volunteers and Auxilians who devote their time helping to ensure that exceptional healthcare is available locally.

Members of Oswego’s Faith United Church recently donated baby clothes and supplies to Oswego Hospital’s Maternity Center, as part of a mission project during Lent.

Students and their family members could peer into a microscope, view film X-rays and make their own first aid kit to take home during Fairley Elementary School’s healthy family night.

Oswego Health employees dressed in blue on March 6 to show their support of National Wear Blue Day, which brings awareness to the importance of colon cancer and its detection. Oswego Health Gastroenterologist Bishnu Sapkota said the best prevention against colon cancer is a colonoscopy.

Melanie Pence, DO, and Nicholas Groch, DO, of Lakeshore ENT, will hold an Ask The Doctor program at 6 p.m. on April 13 in the lower level JPC conference room of the Oswego Health Services Center, which is adjacent to Oswego Hospital. The program is free and open to the public.

Members of the Oswego Health Auxiliary are helping five Oswego Health employees advance their healthcare careers through the presentation of scholarships. The Auxiliary recently presented five scholarships to nurses who are earning various degrees in their career field.

Oswego Health holds its golf tournament each year to support local healthcare. Last year’s event raised more than $100,000 toward the purchase of state-of-the-art Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment.
