Harborfest 2009 Receives Positive Grade
Tom Van Schaack describes his first Harborfest as a positive thing. “My first Harborfest was nothing but positive,” the new executive director said Sunday afternoon. Rain showers hampered some of the activities. However, most everybody took the rain in stride and laughed it off. “I need a bar of soap so I can take a bath,” quipped Joe Gunther during Sunday afternoon’s downpour.
Children’s Parade Draws More Than 1,000
An estimated 1,500 youngsters and their families took part in Friday’s annual Children’s Parade. The fun continues today (July 25) at Harborfest – highlighted by the fireworks spectacular.
Harborfest 2009 Reigns Over Port City
A little bit of rain was barely an inconvenience for the crowd at Thursday night’s opening of Harborfest 22. The music started at 7 p.m. Thursday with Hotel California (a salute to the Eagles). And, after a short interruption for the official opening ceremonies, Live Wire (an AC/DC tribute band) kept Harborfest 2009 rocking and rolling. Scattered showers, some heavy at times, plagued the Hotel California concert; but the crowd continued to grow in front of the NRG Lakeview Stage. The crowd was massive, sprawling all the way back to the sidewalk in Breitbeck Park.
2009 Harborfest Song A Hoot And A Holler
Well-known local musician Ron Richards has been named winner of the 2009 Harborfest song contest. A veteran of the Oswego County music scene, Richards has performed with a number of local bands as well as performing as a solo artist
