The first deals with proposed revision to the city’s 2020 Vision Comprehensive Plan. It will start at 7 p.m. That will be followed at 7:10 p.m. by a public hearing regarding Proposed Local Law #1 – Chapter 63, Animals, of the city code.
UPDATE: Understanding Wildlife program at Leighton scheduled for tonight has been canceled due to the weather.
On Wednesday not only will students at the Frederick Leighton and Kingsford Park elementary schools enjoy a rare opportunity to see amazing animals in real life, but the community will also be provided with two programs that are perfect for the entire family.
Both would be held on Jan. 24 prior to that night’s Common Council meeting. The first is regarding the 2020 Vision Comprehensive Plan Revision document. The other is regarding Proposed Local Law #1 regarding Chapter 63, Animals.
If passed, Local Law #2 of 2010 would amend Chapter 63, Animals, of the Code of the City of Oswego. As of Jan. 1, NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets will no longer be responsible for dog licensing; the state has shifted that task to local municipalities. However, the city was looking to include other things in the law besides the shift in licensing responsibilities.

“It’s Alive†was on tour again and the latest stop was at the Frederick Leighton Elementary School.
Renowned horsemanship clinician Margaret Beeman is coming to Oswego to help local equestrians. She will conduct a public horsemanship clinic on September 12th at Willow Tree Farm in Oswego. The clinic is open to a limited number of participants, from any discipline, interested in solving problems and improving their communication with their horses. Auditors are also welcome.
As part of their Zoo to You program, Rosamond Gifford Zoo brought some of their animals to OCB. Zoo to You is a traveling educational program that visits a variety of venues, such as schools, libraries, community centers, senior housing and day-care centers to provide an interactive, hands-on learning experience.
