Judge Admonishes Spectator At Jones Trial
Tensions have been running high ever since the Alan Jones murder trial got under way Sept. 8. When one of the attorneys makes a questionable comment, the other objects and the judge makes a ruling. However, when a spectator makes an objectionable remark, the judge moves swiftly to ensure order isn’t lost in the courtroom.
For the final paddle of the season, the Oswego County Yakkers chose a paddle on Lake Ontario from Rudy’s to the Oswego Lighthouse earlier this month.
UPDATED: Jury selection was completed Tuesday in the trial of the Palermo man charged with killing his stepsister last August. Alan Jones is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Erin Maxwell. Opening statements are set for Wednesday.
The deteriorated basketball court and lodge at the camp are considered safety hazards by the state. The Youth Bureau has funds to repair the court. It is seeking grant funding for work on the lodge.
The Oswego County Health Department is working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture again this year in a rabies vaccine distribution program to prevent the spread of raccoon rabies in New York State. Planes flying over rural northern Oswego County will drop packets of rabies vaccine between today (Aug. 28) and Sept. 3.
