Fulton Rotarians Hear From Foreign Exchange Student

Rotarian, Judy Young, left, introduced Johanna Dominquez, right,  at a recent Fulton Rotary Club meeting.  Johanna is the Rotary exchange  student sponsored by the Fulton Rotary Club and the Fulton Sunrise  Rotary Club.  Johanna is spending her Junior year at G. Ray Bodley High  School this year.  Each Rotary exchange student spends one school year  in another country, and will live with three families during her school  year.  Johanna's talk compared her life and her schooling in a small  seaside resort in southern France to her year in Fulton.  Judy is the  student exchange counselor for the Rotary Club. High school students  interested in studying in another country for a year should contact Mrs.  Young.Johanna’s talk compared her life and her schooling in a small seaside resort in southern France to her year in Fulton.

Hannibal Holds Public Meeting on Budget Tonight

The district is likely to present a budget that no one will like.  The state is cutting aid to schools by 5% from last year’s level.  The cut will have a very harsh effect on Hannibal and other rural school districts which get most of their money from the state.

Summerfame to Propel High School Students’ Musical Theatre Talents

SUNY Oswego will start its Summerfame institute, including a full  spectrum of musical theatre, performance and technical skills in a July  18 to 30 residential experience for students entering grades 9 through  12. The college previously hosted a Summer Theatre Institute, shown here  with students rehearsing dramatic acting techniques. With high school musicals in season, SUNY Oswego will look to keep the beat going when it trains students in many musical theatre skills with its inaugural two-week Summerfame institute July 18 to 30.

Oswego Health Auxiliary Announces Scholarship Winners

The Oswego Health Auxiliary has presented scholarships to three  employees that plan to advance their careers.<p> 	Seated in the  front row from the left are Scholarship Co-chairman Laura Suchnicki,  along with recipients John Miskovic, Oswego Hospital housekeeping  coordinator, who is pursuing his business management degree at Cayuga  Community College (CCC); Angela Mosqueda, intensive care unit secretary,  who is seeking a nursing degree at CCC, and Auxiliary President Barbara  Handley-Place. Standing in the back row are Scholarship Co-chairman  Mary Margaret Restuccio; Oswego Health President and CEO Ann C. Gilpin;  Oswego Hospital Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Nancy  Deavers; and Sheila Gurdziel, Auxiliary treasurer. Missing from the  photo was scholarship recipient Nola Gardner, R.N., a certified diabetes  educator, who is pursuing her bachelor’s of nursing. <p> Oswego  Healthcare system includes the Oswego Hospital, The Manor at Seneca  Hill, a skilled nursing facility; Springside at Seneca Hill, a  retirement living community; an urgent care center in Fulton, as well as  health services centers in Mexico, Parish and now Phoenix.
