Firefighters Help Habitat For Humanity
Members of the Oswego Fire Department and Oswego Firefighters Benevolent Association worked this past Saturday on the latest Oswego Habitat For Humanity project at 215 E. Fifth St.
The Oswego Common Council paved the way Monday night for a firefighters’ memorial. Councilors approved the Fire Department’s request to use public space on the west side of the Eastside Fire Station, on the grass between the station and the walking path, for construction of a firefighters’ memorial including a flagpole, decorative pavers and benches.
Members of the Oswego Fire Department helped pack dozens of bags packed with all the fixings for a Thanksgiving feast. They volunteered their time to help fill the bags and distribute them to area needy families in time for the holiday. Several dozen food baskets were handed out. The firefighters also donated $1,500 to Deb Deeb of the Human Concerns food pantry to support the effort. The local firefighters have been helping to sustain this project for decades. […]
