Harborfest 2010 A Big Hit With Fest-goers

The Oswego City Police Department wishes to announce the following overview of the events that took place in the city during the weekend of Harborfest 2010 as compared to Harborfest 2008 and 2009.

Grucci Fireworks Extravaganza brightens up the rainy skies over Harborfest. And, earlier on Saturday, hundreds of youngsters took part in the annual Children’s Parade. There’s still plenty of fun to be had as Harborfest wraps up on Sunday.
After being rained out Friday, the annual Children’s Parade is slated to step off at noon on Saturday from East Park. The fun continues Saturday – highlighted by the fireworks spectacular at 9:15 p.m.

Nearly idyllic weather greeted the large crowd at Thursday night’s opening of Harborfest 23. The music started at 7 p.m. with Hollywood Nights (a tribute to Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band). And, after a short interruption for the official opening ceremonies, The Little River Band kept Harborfest 2010 rocking and rolling.
It’s opening night for Harborfest. The annual summer celebration begins in the usual fashion — with an opening set of concerts wrapped around an opening ceremony.
Thursday night’s opening begins with the Bob Seger tribute band “Hollywood Nights” at 7:30 p.m.
Opening ceremonies take place at 8:30 p.m.
Right after that, the night’s headliners take the stage. Australia’s Little River Band perform on the Breitbeck Park stage beginning at 9:00 p.m.

This year marks the 10th year that river’s end bookstore and the Oswego YMCA have joined together to present the Harborfest Kids Fun Run. The event will be held Saturday, July 24th, and children aged 4 to 12 are invited to participate.
When someone looks at a colorful Oswego Harborfest poster they might not realize that Oswego City School District student-artists were involved in its creation.
The artwork of several Charles E. Riley Elementary youngsters has been incorporated into the poster that highlights this year’s Oswego Harborfest.

In preparation for Harborfest 2010, the Oswego Police Department wishes to announce the following advisories regarding traffic, pedestrian and general information specific to the festival scheduled for July 22 – 25.
