BREAKING NEWS: The New York State Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services has concluded its investigation of the Oswego Fire Department involving incidents which occurred in 2009. As a result, the city has been fined $10,000 fine for the violations.
The fire department was notified in a letter dated June 29, that they were found to be in violations of section 3031 of the Public Health Law and a regulation addressing documentation requirements for advanced life support systems. A plan of correction was to be submitted by no later than July 22, and in fact was submitted and accepted by that date.
The New York State Department of Health has sent letters of reprimand to 39 members of the Oswego Fire Department. The action is a result of the state’s probe of the department’s ambulance service.
The New York State Department of Transportation reviewed its five-year plan for projects in Oswego County at a public meeting on Wednesday in the Legislative Chambers of the County Office Building.
New York Governor David Paterson kept his promise. Moments after the state Senate and Assembly passed bills completing the state budget, he began vetoing them. His first veto: A bill that would have given schools $400 million more than the Governor would give them.
“Significant action†was seen in the Assembly and Senate regarding the possibility of reopening Fort Ontario as well as several other state parks and historic sites that have fallen victim this spring to the state’s budget morass. It’s possible Oswego’s historic site could be open for Memorial Day Weekend.
They were about 1,000 individuals from all walks of life, young and old. But, they spoke in one voice – loud enough to be heard in Albany. There was no mistaking their message: Don’t close Fort Ontario. Today’s rally wasn’t an ending, it’s just the start they all said of the fight to save the important piece of Oswego County and the nation’s history.
