Oswego Daily News
When The Actress (Jessica Quindlen, right) asks Lizzy Borden (Courtney Bennett, left) if she really committed the sensational murders of her family in 1892, a game follows where Lizzy asks The Actress to play a younger version of the accused murderer (herself), while Lizzy plays a maid guiding The Actress through that fateful night.
The production, which will open Nov. 18 in Tyler Hall’s lab theatre, taps the story of the infamous Lizzy Borden, accused of killing her father and stepmother with a hatchet in 1892. The psychological thriller unfolds when, years later, Lizzy (played by Courtney Bennett) is asked by a character known simply as The Actress (Jessica Quindlen) whether she committed the sensational murders.
Mark Cole, professor and chair of theatre at Oswego, wrote the script and plays Lawrence, an eccentric unearther of little-known musical anecdotes. Robert Auler of the music faculty portrays Alan, a virtuoso pianist. Gerard Moses will direct the performance, which made its world premiere at SUNY Oswego last year. All Content Copyright Dot Publishing 2024.
